Four Towns League
This year the league consists of Leek, Ashbourne, Belper and Dove
Valley. Matlock town have resigned from the league this year, but
we are pleased to welcome Belper who were keen to join the league.
This is a 4 round competition held on various dates over the year,
one home round for each club, and generally accepted as being for
swimmers who get less opportunity to compete on a more regular
basis. Each event has a limit time, which means that our faster
swimmers are usually not selected for this competition, should a swimmer
swim faster than the limit time, he or she fails to score points for
that event, so careful team selection is usually required. It is
not in the spirit of this particular competition for any clubs better
swimmers to be swam in events above their age group, unless absolutely
necessary.
However, the club does regard this annual competition as an important
part of the clubs calendar and will always try and do its best to win
within the constraints applied. The club does realise the
importance of trying to give gala swims to all of its swimmers, and it
is hoped that through this competition we can go someway to addressing
that issue.
The Britannia Building Society Trophy is awarded annually to the club
accumulating the most gala points over the 4 rounds
