The Junior League

Each year Dove Valley Swimming club competes in the Junior League competition which consists of a series of 3 galas for our younger swimmers, those who will be of the ages 9, 10, 11 or 12  by approx  8th September each year.  These three galas are always in the same months each year, April, May and June

We appreciate that some swimmers and parents may be new to the club, or that the swimmer is just becoming of competition age, i.e. 9th birthday during this year.  So we would like to take this opportunity to explain what the competition is all about.

Without doubt, this is the main competition for our Juniors during the year, and is a measure as to how the club is progressing in swimming terms against most other midland clubs.  In 2007 our young squad took the club to runners up spot in division 2, and were promoted to division 1 for the 2008 season.  The league is known as the Nuneaton and District Junior Swimming League, which is for all U.K.Midlands clubs, and consists of 70 teams split over 3 divisions.  The top six clubs in each division go forward to the league finals in September, the overall results then determine the top 4 clubs who will be promoted.

The club has some exceptional young swimmers, but a league competition requires a team of swimmers, working for each other.  A few good swimmers with no support from their team mates will not achieve the required result.
Work hard and make sure you get your place in the Junior Squad, ask any of the juniors who been to a division final in September, and they will tell you what a magnificent day out that is.
