The Speedo League This is the National UK swimming league, divided into 7 regions covering the whole country. Dove Valley participate in the West Midland section, which consists of Division1(24clubs), Division2(24clubs), Division3 North (17 clubs, where we are) and Division3 South (15 clubs). The swimming age groups for this league are 11, 13, 15 and Open, but note, this will also include the stronger 10’s, 12’s and 14 yrs. It is without doubt the toughest league competition that we compete in, involving most of the clubs strongest swimmers over a wide spread of age groups. There are 3 rounds in the competition each year, one in each of the months, October, November and December. The top four clubs are promoted and the bottom four relegated. Finals for this league are only for the top six teams in Division 1, and it is unlikely that we will be contesting one of these in the near future. We would hope, indeed expect, all our selected squad swimmers ensure they are available for this series of 3 galas, you will be informed well in advance of the league dates. It would not be acceptable for swimmers to train regularly with the club, then opt out of competing in this very important competition in the clubs calendar.
